A promise is a promise

Well, now that I am home and staple free as of today, slowly starting to feel better and hurt less--I thought I would go ahead and tell you of the last snowmobile trip of the season.  In my previous blog I did share a couple photos, from the ice shelf on Lake Superior.
Photobucket
This has to be the most amazing thing. I know it's not super significant, but since I have never seen anything like this, nor had my husband or my son, it made the trip worth it.

Let's start here, snowmobiling is NOT my favorite thing to do. I actually find it very boring, let me tell you why. First, you ride by yourself and talk to yourself, please don't misunderstand; you have a group of people, but you are on your own snowmobile using hand signals unless you stop. Second, it's very easy to get cold. Third the trails can be really rough. Fourth, the towns you stop at, usually miles apart, consist of a bar/restaurant and a gas station, usually not very nice.  Fifth, well I could go on all day as to why I don't like it...but I think everyone gets the point.
Do you want to know why this trip was the best trip ever?
We went all the way up to Newberry in the U.P. The last trip to Newberry, well it wasn't great. This time we arrived right after a snow storm which made for wonderful trails.
Photobucket
It was also really cool when you were riding down the trail and there was snow as high as you! When we were stopped, I stepped off the trail to take this photo

and the snow was up past my knees!
The whole time I was riding, I kept thinking I can not wait to blog a bout this trip! The trails were smooth, the snow was piled up and the tree stumps looked like mushroom because of the giant piles of snow on top of them. It was beautiful!  As many times as I have been snowmobiling, this trip will always be remembered, with the smooth like butta trails and the ice shelfs!  Oh it was the first time I got to go snowmobiling with my son too!

This blog should have been done sooner, like right after I got off the snowmobile, so you would have been able to feel my excitement, but like I said, I will never forget this trip.
Until next time friends!

Forgiveness

Ok, Ok, I know that I have said that I am going to try to keep up with this, I actually have a legitimate excuse which I have wanted to share with everyone but I didn't know how to do it......well 1. I have an ovarian cyst, and I need have to it all removed via c section scar--which will result in some time in the hospital--but the good news is I will be down, and I will have time to get caught back up, so bear with me.
2.  I was taking the 40 hour class and I was just about finished when I found about about need to have this surgery, so I had two weeks, and I thought I am going to get this finished.  Passed the class and the final exam and got the state exam scheduled!  I am officially a licensed real estate agent, working with CENTURY 21 Drews Realty.   There are a few more things I have to get finished up but hopefully by April I will be going good!

That said, I wanted to say, we went on a snowmobile trip which was ended up being the last one of the year---and let me tell you, it was the BEST!  Right now I am only going to share a few photos, and I will share the rest later, but I can't wait any longer to show these because it was the most amazing thing---Lake Superior ice shelfs:

My husband is the only one who managed to drive out there--it was so slippery, but while we were looking over the edge, I felt as if a penguin should hop up there! It was the most amazing thing!

Promise to share more about this trip as soon as I can!

Scarlett=Pink

Before I get going here, I don't have to post the larger size photos anymore!  There are options that allow me to post them small and you the viewer and reader can click them to view them larger!  Why is this even important?  My blog will load faster, since pictures tend to slow the process down.

Here we go!!  You might be thinking why does she keep saying scarlet equals pink?  So from the begining.  I wanted to buy a new backdrop and I personally like muslin; -it's easy to travel with, easy to clean and light weight, but when you purchase them, they tend to cost a pretty penny.  When I was searching the internet trying to find a muslin that I wanted, I found a do it yourself page.  Guess what--half the cost to buy muslin from the fabric store--BUT I have to dye it myself.
What could go wrong with that?  I've died stuff before.  You know, I am sure that I didn't do something right or I should have gotten unbleached muslin, but hey what have I really got to lose?  I picked out my color--Scarlet---I do like red.  The directions said put it in the so many gallons of water and the Internet directions said to add one cup of salt and boil the water because the hotter the water the better the color, ha! The result:

You can see that I got more pink than scarlet! So I've gotten another bottle of "scarlet" and the resulting color will be the NEW muslin for the studio, which I will share when I get done (hopefully this weekend)!

My little dog Woody modeled on the temporary pink muslin:

Even though my muslin didn't end up being the right color, I got some pretty awesome shots of my little doggy.

Hopefully I will have some time tomorrow so I can tell you about the MOST AMAZING snowmobile trip we just returned from!  Stay tuned!

Here's what went down!

Holy Moly!  There has not been a blog from me since September!  Sorry about that.  Things got busy and blog got put on the back burner.  I thought about blogging but then I got side tracked which happens to me,  shiny stuff, oh right blog!

Since I last left you, I have received a new camera!  For Christmas I got the 7-D that I was drooling over and let me tell you I am in LOVE with this camera!  I still don't even know all the stuff it does, BUT I do know it takes AWESOME photos!  Let me share:

Most of you know about the huge ice storm that hit Hillsdale.  I spent some time outside taking photos to share--

Beauty.........

So as I was wrapping up the photos from the Camden Pageant (a little late, I know)  there were a few that I thought were really worth sharing.    Before I entered into this gig of shooting the pageant I had no idea what entailed.  It's a lot of work, not for me as much as it was for the moms and the girls.  Now mind you, I have only been to this one pageant, I am sure that they get harrier in the bigger pageants, but this was a pretty big deal.    These girls worked hard and so did their moms and families, so when I found some of these shots that I caught I just wanted to share.

This was one of my favorites, though I have no idea what she was feeling, she was just so adorable.
This was my second favorite

--I loved her dress and her expression--
There was a lot of waiting around time for the girls.

At the end, a LOT of excitement

It's not that the wind is blowing....

Yes it is. For a butterfly. Imagine having wings that are like small kites. So when the wind blows, a butterfly has no choice but to go the way the wind is blowing. Do you think birds have much of a choice?

My butterfly bush is in full bloom and this season the butterflies seem to be a bit shy.   In previous season they usually let me come right up close to them to take photos.  Right now I am stalking butterflies,it's pretty funny actually--try to picture it in your head.

The other day I finally seen my humming bird moth, he didn't stick around long enough for me to get a shot of him, so hopefully I will get you some shots of those soon because the butterfly bush isn't going to last forever. Fall is almost here....

These are my mystery pumpkins, they started growing on our brush pile that we have been waiting to burn. There are still 8 growing out there, plus the 5 that are growing in the veggie garden that were supposed to be squash!

Well people, why do we keep letting me get so far behind on my blogs? It's been weeks since I last blogged. Much as I try I get behind........
There is more to tell, I have done family photos that I have shared already but can be seen here: Westfall Family

If you would like to see the Camden pageant photos, you can see the girls who got packages here:  Camden Pageant
There are tons more photos from the pageant that I will share....with any luck I can get those edited this weekend!
